Discontinued Makeup

Problem: I recently found out that my favorite shade of lipstick (the one I've adored for years) has been discontinued. I have tried to find a match for it from the same (and other) cosmetic lines, but to no avail. Is there anything else I can do? I'm desperate!

Solution: The cosmetics industry is constantly changing, and cosmetics companies regularly discontinue products to make room for new, ostensibly improved, versions of past favorites. Alternatively, depending on current trends, a particular type of product may be discontinued altogether. For example, gel blushes fell by the wayside a few years ago and now most of the major cosmetic lines have reintroduced them, calling them liquid cheek stains or cheek tints. Luckily, there is a cosmetics company that pledges not to discontinue anything, and their claim to fame is their ability to replicate the texture, finish, and exact color of almost any type of makeup. That company is Three Custom Color, and I have sung their praises in the past, including a review in my book Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me, 6th Edition. If you send Three Custom Color your beloved lipstick (even just a sliver of it), they will duplicate it for you and they stand behind their results. My experiences with them have been very positive, and although this customization is pricey (the lipstick costs $50 for 2 tubes), it is the best way I know to continue using a favored color. Three Custom Color can be reached at (888) 262-7714, or visit www.threecustom.com.
